More Days in Portland: Arriving Early or Staying Late?

I've never been up Oregon way. Glenda and I are thinking of coming either a day or two realy or staying a day or two afterwards to explore. Anybody else thinking of that? What is there to do? Where should we stay? Is there a group we could hang out with?

Soccer play-off game

The wonderful Portland Timbers (USL soccer, soon to be MLS team) have a play-off game Sunday if anyone's interested. Will update game time, but based on the TV crew call time, I would say it's probably 2 or 3pm.

OK, is anybody out there? I sent an email but got no reply so I'm taking it to the Message Boards!! Wondering what provisions there will be to fix my face, my hair and my gown before the Banquet and Ball. C'mon, guys, I'm getting older with each subsequent shindig ergo my neediness for preparation climbs exponentially each year. Should I call the Governor Hotel concierge and ask them what's around or do you helpful local browncoats have names/resources standing by for the Big Night? P.S. ...

Rocky Horror Picture Show After the Ball?

It just came to my attention that Portland has the longest running RHPS in the world! The Clinton Street Theater has been showing RHPS every Saturday at midnight since April 1978. I've only seen the show in a theater once, and that was in 1978, but I'd love to go again. Especially with a buncha 'Coats in their finest!

Anybody up to getting a group together so we can go in force right after the Ball?

For those of you who do not know me, I'm a costume pack rat. I've done Ren Faires and Cosplay for wayyyyyyyyy too many years and didn't stop with Firefly/Serenity. In my quest for costumes for our San Fransisco BCB (I'm in Central Cali), I kept finding things that were 'perfect for someone'. I did sell some stuff the next year on ebay, but kep collecting (my fave thrift shop had 75% off Fridays)...when you can get a full lenght leather coat for $8, you buy it (sorry, ewok has already snagged ...

Rooms at the Governor Still Available

Wanted y'all to know that it's early August, and I was able to book a double room at the Governor, no probs. There were also SUITES available (for a good rate on Hotel.com, which DOES allow cancellations btw). Now, I'm hoping that daughter Samantha may accompany me this time, but if she doesn't then I might be seeking a roomie or two :-) Glad to see that there will be repeat offenders attending! Holler to all the Shindiggers.

Specific Timing for the Tracks

I was planning on staying a bit out of the way for the ball, so I was wondering when the tracks on Sat afternoon were planned to end, so I know whether or not I have enough time to run home and change before the mighty fine shindig or if I'm going to have to beg for the use of someone's room for an hour or two. Me again. Just noting that most van tours require a min. of 4 persons to arrange visits to Columbia Gorge, wineries etc. Wondering if other out-of-town gawkers are thinking of engaging tour services. Bonnet Bob and I come in very late on Thursday so we could conceivably be sightseeing Friday morning or Sunday (we don't leave till Monday). Otherwise I'm just going to bug the hell out of Emily cuz she's from Portland area and was silly enough to tell me so ;-)
